New Waste Streams at Simcoe Place

Contamination in Toronto alone has increased from 22% in 2015 to 30% in 2019, meaning approximately a third of what we put in recycle bins is actually ending up in landfill. We can all do our part to help change this.

Contamination in Toronto alone has increased from 22% in 2015 to 30% in 2019, meaning approximately a third of what we put in recycle bins is actually ending up in landfill. We can all do our part to help change this.

To support new legislation to offset cross contamination we are introducing the following new waste streams at Simcoe Place.

  • Paper must be separated from bottles, cans & plastic and put into separate bins

  • Recycling that is contaminate with organics (food or liquid) will no longer be accepted and will be diverted to waste

  • All organics with any trace of garbage products will be diverted to waste

See our New Waste Stream Guidelines , this will open in a new tabto learn more about how to recycle correctly and avoid cross contamination.
