(HAMILTON, ON) September 10, 2021 - Continuing its long-standing support of Hamilton youth and helping to amplify important conversations around suicide prevention, CF Lime Ridge is proud to host the 9th annual Running for Rachael event on Sunday, September 26.
Running for Rachael is powered by the Suicide Prevention Community Council of Hamilton, this will open in a new tab (SPCCH), a Hamilton-based charitable organization with city-wide programs focused on suicide prevention that build hope, help and healing in our community.
“Running for Rachael is an important annual event that allows our partners to carry-out crucial work to prevent suicide in the Hamilton community,” says Andy Traynor, General Manager, CF Lime Ridge. “Now more than ever, we need to stand together to minimize social isolation brought on by the pandemic. The Running for Rachael event is a beacon of hope that shows everyone that there’s a strong community here that supports mental health and healing and we’re proud to continue our support.”
This year, CF Lime Ridge and the SPCCH are hoping to raise $30,000 to advance a range of programs and initiatives including online training through the Living Works START, this will open in a new tab program, bereavement support for those who have experienced loss by suicide, and the Be Safe app, this will open in a new tab, empowering users with access to local mental health, addiction and suicide prevention resources.
“Our community partnership with CF Lime Ridge is instrumental in advancing our suicide prevention and life promotion work in Hamilton,” says Sid Stacey, Chair, SPCCH.
Similar to last year, the event will be held virtually and participants are encouraged to walk or run with their household or small team while maintaining local social distancing rules and public health protocols.
