HAMILTON, ON (September 21, 2022) – In support of youth mental health and suicide prevention, CF Lime Ridge is proud to host Running for Rachael’s 10h Annual 5K run/walk event on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event marks its in-person return to CF Lime Ridge following two years of virtual events due to pandemic restrictions.
Running for Rachael plays a vital role in supporting the city-wide work of suicide prevention in Hamilton. With the support of the community, this premier event for the Suicide Prevention Community Council of Hamilton (SPCCH) provides support to the Roots of Hope - Suicide Prevention and Life Promotion program. In partnership with CMHA Hamilton and the Mental Health Commission of Canada, 5 pillar projects are currently being implemented including: Training and Education, Means Safety, Life Promotion, Building Bridges to Support Transitional Youth and Advancing Research Projects.
Another important support for the community is the Be Safe APP for HAMILTON that has been recently developed through a partnership with the Suicide Prevention Community Council of Hamilton and the Canadian Mental Health Association, Hamilton Branch and mindyourmind.
The app serves as a space where mental health, wellness, engagement and technology intersect. Individuals can access resources when they are in a mental health crisis or considering suicide. Be Safe for HAMILTON is an easy-to-use mobile app available 24/7 to support decision making during a crisis.
“Each year this event receives tremendous community interest and support and we’re thrilled for its return to CF Lime Ridge in an engaging, in-person format that brings residents together to promote the importance of mental health awareness and well-being,” says Andy Traynor, General Manager at CF Lime Ridge. “Our partnership with Running for Rachael reflects Cadillac Fairview’s overarching commitment to supporting communities impacted by social isolation and we’re looking forward to marking this milestone fundraising occasion at our centre.”
Registration is $30 per person and $50 per family and all proceeds from the event will support Running for Rachael and the Suicide Prevention Community Council of Hamilton. Any donations over $10 will receive a charitable tax receipt immediately.
