In June, Cadillac Fairview (CF) announced the Cadillac Fairview Award in Real Estate for Indigenous Students (“the Award”), formed in partnership between Waterfront Properties and the University of British Columbia (UBC), Sauder School of Business.

Today, CF is proud to announce the first two recipients of the Award for the 2022/2023 winter session, Eric Surette and Isaac Hill.

Eric Surette Bachelor of Commerce, 4th year Awarded: $2,500

“I am thrilled to be the recipient of the Cadillac Fairview Award in Real Estate for Indigenous Students. It is an honour to be chosen and validates all of the time and effort I have awarded to my studies. I plan to pursue a career in the real estate sector and the Award has already proven valuable in this journey. The opportunity to meet with a representative and discuss the real estate industry along with potential opportunities available to me in the future is an invaluable experience that has so far been unique to CF. This is an amazing addition to the Award and one I think that Indigenous students similar to myself will be excited to experience in the future.”

Isaac Hill Bachelor of Commerce, 4th year Awarded: $2500

“I am both grateful and honoured to be selected as one of the first receipts of the Award. Being selected by a company that is an industry leader in a field I am passionate about provides me with a great sense of excitement as I near graduation. When I think about my career, I’m looking for a field that allows me to take on new and complex tasks that challenge me and help me grow, and one that connects me with others to work for the betterment of an organization and its clients. I see all of these factors in commercial real estate, and believe it is a great fit. CF’s support through this Award has given me more flexibility and allowed me to focus on the aspects of my life I am passionate about: family, friends, and academics. Without this, I would not have the opportunity I need to succeed to my maximum potential as a student and professional.” “On behalf of everyone at Waterfront Properties, I’d like to congratulate Isaac Hill and Eric Surette on being the first recipients of the Award,” said Jesse Gregson, General Manager Waterfront Properties. “Everyone at Cadillac Fairview is cheering on these two bright students, and wishing them the very best in all their future endeavors.”

The award is made on the recommendation of the UBC Sauder School of Business, and over the course of five years $25,000 will be awarded to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students of Canada who are interested in pursuing a career in the commercial real estate industry, with preference given to students from Host Nations of UBC Vancouver (Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh) and Indigenous residents in Metro Vancouver.
