Vision

The new vision and master plan will transform the East Harbour lands into a transit supportive, mixed-use community with office, residential, retail and amenity uses.

The Site

Located 3km east of Union Station, East Harbour will benefit from its unique location on the eastern edge of downtown in close proximity to Corktown, Riverside & Leslieville, Chinatown East, the West Don Lands and at the gateway to the revitalized Port Lands.

History

For over a 100 years, East Harbour was home to the Lever Brothers Sunlight Soap Co. factory where products from soap to margarine were manufactured under the Unilever name.

The redevelopment will breathe new life into a dormant industrial site creating a rich and vibrant mixed use community.

Master Plan

The Mixed Use Master Plan envisions the transformation of the lands into a vibrant, transit-oriented community and urban destination that will accommodate office uses alongside a residential community, supported by ancillary retail and community uses, a high-quality public realm, and an active, pedestrian and cycle oriented street network.

Mobility & Connectivity

East Harbour is perfectly situated to serve the movement of people and stimulate connectivity. Given its unique location, it is set to benefit from major infrastructure investments that will significantly improve access to the site.

The mobility network will encourage active transportation by providing a safe network of spaces to support walking and cycling through the site.

The Neighbourhood

To the north lies a thriving cultural hub in Toronto’s east end. Riverdale and Lesliville are rich with restaurants, bars, breweries, art galleries, fitness clubs and film studios.

Revitalized Port Lands

Revitalized Port Lands

Directly south lies the Port Lands, an 880 acre area nestled along Toronto’s eastern waterfront. Once the revitalization project is complete, it will have a new island community, sprawling parks and green spaces which facilitate water activities such as canoeing and kayaking.

Eastern Waterfront

Comprised of a series of new mixed-use communities, the Eastern Waterfront is linked by dynamic network of parks and open spaces, restaurants and diverse retail offerings.
Disterlery District

Distillery District

The pedestrian-only Distillery District, set in quaint 19th century buildings that once housed a large whiskey distillery, draws crowds to its cobblestone streets.

The defining feature of East Harbour will be its lively and animated public realm.

Over 3.5 acres of parks, plazas and other open spaces will work together to create a high quality place, a comfortable pedestrian experience and an enhanced connection between East Harbour and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
